Rededication and Blessing of the Image of the Sacred Heart

I was happy to be a part of a blessing ceremony of the Image of the Sacred Heart which used to adorn our Church in Pawtucket and is now on St. Patrick's Church in Providence. This beautiful ceremony spoke to us of the continuing influence and beauty that our Church still has even though we closed the facility here years ago. The image of the Sacred Heart is on the front of the Church building near the State House on Smith Street. I just wanted to share with you the opening prayer of this ceremony to uplift you as we go forward together at Holy Family Parish.

"Dear brothers and sisters,
We have genuine reason to rejoice because we are about to bless this image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This image honors, above all, the truth that Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. The eternal Son of God, who came down to the womb of the Virgin Mary, is the sign and sacrament of God the Father. As Christ himself said: "He who sees me sees the Father." Therefore when we honor this image, let us lift up our eyes to Christ, who reigns for ever with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
